title: "Out of the Box" by Patrick Dougherty
Inspiration: I chose the stick bending art from the cafeteria as my inspiration for my art. I liked the idea of the swirls and the cool texture of the sticks making the art more 3D and out. I used that and simplified it by using glue to stick it out. I used watered down acrylic paint to make my art stick out. I painted them with a color scheme that was inspired by seashells and mermaids. I chose this piece because it really stood out from the other pieces I saw and gave me more inspiration than the others. Watching the video of Patrick Dougherty creating the artwork was interesting. I liked the way he just randomly put sticks in the piece and bent it, it was strategetic but it also used some creativity and intuition. I also just went for it like he did and did the first thing I could think of.
Evidence:
(color palette picture): I spent some time on the color scheme of the piece because I wanted that to also stand out about it.
(mermaid inspo picture): I used this picture to inspire me on the colors I wanted to use.
(art mess practice): I slabbed on paint on paper to practice how I wanted the texture and overlay of the paint to look.
